Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

Ahoy Parents, Guardians and Students, welcome to the 2023-24 school year! I am excited for the school year to begin and all the possibilities this year has to offer to our students. For those of you who are new to our school, my name is Mrs. Fried and I have been the proud principal of Otis Orchards Elementary for the past three years and I am very much looking forward to starting a new school year together. Our exceptional teachers have planned an exciting educational program for your child and we look forward to kicking off the school year with all of you.

Many of you know from years past, we always have a theme at Otis. This year I am excited to share our theme is nautical based and our maiden voyage is set for August 29th. We are excited to get our treasure hunt of learning started! Over the course of the year, we will ask you to join us on various adventures, supporting the students of Otis. 

I truly believe both the school and home share the responsibility of educating our children. The Otis Orchards staff prides themselves on building a school environment that is welcoming to both students and families. Your active involvement and participation in your child’s education are very important to having a successful school year for our students. You are invited to attend, visit and participate in various events that will happen at Otis throughout the year. Information about these events  will be sent out in numerous ways including on our website, Class Dojo, phone calls, emails, Skyward messenger, etc. Students in grades K-2 will have access to Seesaw and students in grades 3-6 will use Google Classroom as their electronic learning platform. Both Seesaw and Google will be used for on-site (synchronous) learning and for home (asynchronous) learning. Students in grades 2-6 will have their very own iPad to take home within the next two weeks. Stay tuned for more information from your child’s classroom teacher.

The Otis staff is so excited to see all of you and share the wonderful learning opportunities planned for the 2023-24 school year. I promise this year will be filled with many opportunities for students to find their very own “treasure chest.”
